Bumble Bee - Free Pattern

Head and Body

Close, fasten off and sew to body.

Antenna (make 2)
Rnd 1                     With color black, 6 sc in a magic ring
Rnd 2                     1 sc 6 times
Rnd 3                     (1 dec, 1sc) 2 times (4)
Rnd 4-6                 1 sc 4 times
Close, fasten off and sew to body.

Fore wings (make 2)
Rnd 1                     With color white, 4 ch
Rnd 2                     4 sc, rotate work, 4 sc in the bottom of the chain (8)
Rnd 3                     1 inc, 1 sc, 3 inc, 1 sc, 2 inc (14)    
Rnd 4                     1 inc, 2 sc, 2 hdc in next st, (1 dc, 2 dc in next st) 2 times, 2 hdc, (1 inc, 1 sc) 2 times (20)
Close and fasten off.

Rear wings (make 2)
Rnd 1                     With color white, 4 ch
Rnd 2                     4 sc, rotate work, 4 sc in the bottom of the chain (8)
Rnd 3                     3 ch, 2 dc in next st, 1 hdc, 3 inc, 1 hdc, (2 dc in next st) 2 times (14)
Close,  fasten off and sew to the body together with fore wings.

Sting
Rnd 1                     With color black, 4 sc in a magic ring
Rnd 2                     1 sc 4 times
Rnd 3                     (1 inc, 1 sc) 2 times (6)    
Rnd 4-5 1 sc 6 times
Close, fasten off and sew to body.


Final Touch
With black yarn embroider mouth. I use two buttons for the eyes, but you can use any type of eyes you prefer. You can also  make two with 4 sc in a magic ring and sew to head.

  2. What yarn do you use? Or do you use cotton crochet thread? How tall is the bee?

    By the way, I absolutely love your bee and can't wait to try making one. :-)

  3. Thank yoy Joan and Karen for your comments. I used italian cotton crochet thread but you can try with wool as well. I used a crochet hook number 3, it is better to use one number smaller than the regular so the bee will be firm. It is about 13 centimetres tall
